Footprint Environmental Services (FES) is a focused environmental consulting firm from the Western Cape. The consultancy focuses on biodiversity conservation and environmental management. As directors of FES Sean Ranger and Charl du Plessis have more than 25 years experience in integrated environmental planning and management both on statutory conservation areas, private and communal properties and have extensive experience in the implementation and management of multi sectoral projects. The consultancy has gained significant experience in environmental impact assessment.
Projects undertaken by FES include the Bergrivier Municipality LAB Biodiversity Report, Biodiversity Assessments, Risk Mitigation Plans for Agricultural producers including aspects of accreditation, erosion control, rehabilitation and monitoring, Fire Management Plans, Integrated Fire and Invasive Alien Plant Species Clearing Plans, Area-wide Planning for the Nieuwoudtville Plateau, Erosion and Footpath Management Plan for the Groot – Winterhoek World Heritage Site and a Environmental Management Plan for Rooibos Limited and various resource use related licence applications for landowners.
Another focus area of FES has been Environmental Impact Assessments for large scale renewable energy developments (PV Solar), ecotourism, mining, bulk infrastructure, agricultural expansion and applications for rectification under Section 24G of NEMA for the commencement of development without the required authorisations. The experience gained covers both the Basic Assessment and Scoping EIA together with the drafting of Environmental Management Programmes and providing oversight as Environmental Control Officers.
The consultancy has gained additional experience in policy and strategy development, Geographic Information Services, facilitation and management of public participation and Management Effectiveness Tracking assessments within the conservation sector.
