Green Building Projects
The Green Building Council of South Africa (www.gbcsa.co.za) has modeled it’s green star rating system for buildings on the Australian Green Star system. Currently four rating tools are available for rating:
- Office v1
- Retail Centre v1
- Multi Unit Residential v1
- Public & Educational Building PILOT
To date, 10 projects have received Design certification and 2 have received As Built certification. There are many more registered projects indicating the encouraging uptake in Green Building Design and Construction in South Africa.
In the current economic environment, committing to Green Star certification may be proving too costly for many owners/developers. That is not to say they cannot apply green building principles to their projects whether they be new build or refurbishments.
Below is a selection of various green building projects. Please visit regularly as the list is updated on a regular basis.
