SAEEC 2017 was opened officially by Lisa Reynolds, President of the newly morphed SAEE Confederation on Tuesday 14th November at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.
The SAEE now incorporates divisions within the association namely: MVCSA (Measurement and Verifications), SAFEE (Females in Energy Efficiency) and TIPSA (Thermal Insulation Association) and recently launched the ESCo Association of South Africa (EASA).
The theme for the conference was Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Growth and Prosperity, and Reynolds reiterated the importance and need to look beyond only energy efficiency towards energy management as a whole including resource efficiency, water efficiency, climate change and carbon management.
To this end the main tracks and themes at the conference this year included: -trends in the transportation industry, climate change, green buildings, energy management, financing sustainable energy and energy efficiency projects, as well as looking at developing the ESCO market.
