The Sustainability Specialist shall report to the Head of Operational Sustainability and shall be responsible for managing the energy, water, waste and resilience data collected and kept current by the team.
The specialist shall also be responsible for working with the data, analyzing trends, identifying anomalies and then taking appropriate corrective action to remedy these anomalies.

This may be through reporting, on site investigation, project implementation and project savings tracking. Thus, project management experience is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities Tactical Readiness Spreadsheet Management • Complete and up to date spreadsheet for all reporting and programme purposes with a specific focus on Africa

  • 6 monthly translation of data into appropriate visual formats and graphs for presentation, discussion and review

Online Energy, Water, Waste and Security Management Platform • Drive the migration from adhoc spreadsheets and tracking to online management and accessibility by Liberty, Stanlib and JHI Retail

  • Work with stakeholders to resolve all technical and IT system integration issues
  • Engage in RFP and procurement of appropriate solution for the group
  • Input on system design, operability and usability
  • Build energy, water and waste management data for Africa

Project Management • An understanding of project management principles to drive quality deliverables in a timely manner
Input into Working Group, Exco and Board Level Presentations • Develop content that can be put into senior level presentation and documents

  • Analyse data to highlight relevant and appropriate trends and outliers

Communications • Communicate effectively at all levels of the Liberty, Stanlib and or JHI Retail organization to ensure accurate and relevant data gathering
General Admin • Support the objectives of GRES: Sustainability in terms of reporting and communication

  • Take action items at relevant meetings

Qualifications Relevant technical degree

Experience 1 – 2 years work experience

Job Related Skills The candidate should have an appropriate technical degree and an interest in managing energy, water, waste and savings databases. Certified Energy Manager, and/or Certified Measurement and Verification Professional qualifications in addition to a relevant technical degree are advantageous.

Knowledge and experience in the South African energy, water and waste environment is an advantage.

The candidate should be proficient in MS Excel, word and PowerPoint.
Competencies The candidate should have good mathematical and analytical competency. The candidate should exercise good attention to detail. The candidate should be self motivated and able to work on an individual basis. The candidate should also be prepared to work in teams on a project by project baiss. The candidate must have the ability to form constructive working relationships to ensure data flow from sites that may be remote. The candidate should be goal driven, results and outcome oriented and practice adherence to deadlines.
